NYSE Holidays

What it is:

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. However, the NYSE does observe certain holidays.

How it works (Example):

The dates listed for holidays reflect the date the NYSE observes the holiday, not necessarily the actual date of the holiday. For example, Independence Day (U.S.) is July 4th, but since July 4th falls on a Sunday in 2010, the NYSE will observe the holiday on Monday, July 5th.

Times for early closings are listed in Eastern Time.

Why it Matters:

Both U.S. and global investors need to know that the NYSE is not open on the aforementioned holidays, so no trading will occur on those dates. Other exchanges may or may not be open on dates that the NYSE is closed.
